Ephesians 1:7-10

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight, making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. Book Review: A Moment in Time

A Moment in Time
by: Tracie Peterson

It is time for another book review!  I have received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishing through NetGalley to write a review.
"In A Moment in Time, the second book in Tracie Peterson's Lone Star Bride series, Alice Chesterfield is shaken by the attack that left her scarred and her father dead. She cannot shake the memory of the man responsible.
"Alice is relieved when she accepts the offer to relocate to a ranch in Dallas, Texas. She meets Robert Barnett, a handsome, carefree man with a good head on his shoulders. He is a welcome change from the discord of Alice's past. He helps her navigate the obstacles in her way and he doesn't seem to care about her scar. Just when life begins returning to normal, Alice receives devastating news about her family. She must learn to place her trust in God as she seeks a measure of peace for her future...and for her heart."  (www.familychiristian.com)

I must first start off by saying that Tracie Peterson is my all-time favorite Christian Historical Fiction writer.  So for most books that I review from her, they will probably say almost the same thing.  What I love most about Tracie Peterson and the books I read from her, is that she always starts with a character that usually has some sort of introduction to Christianity, but throughout the book, she uses the situations and supporting characters to help her main character grow in their faith and be able to use that stronger faith in their life to do harder tasks.  Also, I love that the characters usually go to church at some point, and the sermon speaks to them to help nudge them in what they either need to do or on how they need to change… or both!  Her theology that comes out through the book is usually more than just a simple “God loves me” or “we need to be better Christians.”
This book has not disappointed me.  Her writing is clear, and her characters are well fleshed out and believable.  And of course in true Tracie Peterson style, there is always a turn or twist that you would not normally expect in the story.  For this one, they might be a little more predicable as you read through the book, but it still is not a completely predicable story.  I also liked the way that she matured Alice through the revelations of her family’s past.  In addition, Alice’s romance runs throughout the later half of the book, but I do not feel like it completely overshadows the other areas of Alice’s life or the other characters.
And just so you know, this is a second book in their series; however, I have not read the first one (I’ll need to promptly go rent it from the library!).  As with all Tracie Peterson series, you do not need to read the previous books to be able to pick up a later novel in the series.  She does a good job of letting you know what you need to for the story to make sense, but not enough to bore the readers that have already read the previous books.
Overall, I loved this book as much as her other books that I have read.  If you like reading Christian Historical (Romance) Fiction books, I would definitely suggest you read this book as it was a very enjoyable story.
