Ephesians 1:7-10

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight, making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. When God’s plan seems like an impossible feat…

I think most of us have been there before.  You prayed for direction on something or just your life in general.  You felt like God was telling you where to go as you prayed and read your Bible.  The task ahead seemed arduous, but you knew that with God anything was possible.  You persevered.  And then one thing came into your path after another after another after another………….

You feel unsure.

You feel defeated.

You feel alone.

And so you pray to God, pouring your heart out, wondering why this is all happening.

“Lord, I prayed that you would show me what you wanted for my life.  I am all in.  Wherever you want me is where I’ll be.  Why is all this happening?  I just don’t understand.”

I’ve been there more times than I can count.  I weathered many of those times to come out on the other end to see where God was leading me.  And let me tell you, there is more than one area in my life right now that I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel yet, and maybe not for a long time.

What I want to share with you over the next few weeks is what I’ve learned from the past and from the Bible, and what God is currently teaching me as I wade through another time like this.  Hopefully this will be an encouragement during a time that is trying for even the most devout in their faith.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare, [peace and prosperity,]1 and not for evil, xto give you a future and a hope. 12 yThen you will call upon me and come and pray to me, yand I will hear you. 13 zYou will seek me and find me, when you seek me awith all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Although these words were for the exiles, God’s chosen people (of the old covenant), I believe that we can also believe these words to be true for God’s chosen people of the new covenant (Christians).  May the words from the Lord give you the encouragement you need.

Join me for the next few Mondays as we work through, “Is this really God’s plan?”

Are there any specific areas that you personally struggle with?  Let me know in the comments section or send me an email, and I will try to cover them in my coming posts!

through His Grace alone,
Sarah
